About Megan Advani

PT, DPT, MPT, CMP
Megan graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science. She earned a Master of Physical Therapy degree from East Carolina University and later received a post-professional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the School of Health-Related Professions at UMDNJ-Newark. More recently, she obtained an MBA in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University.

Megan has been practicing as a licensed physical therapist in NJ in outpatient orthopedics for over 25 years. She specializes in treating runners, dancers, and individuals with complex biomechanical dysfunctions. In her runners’ assessment, she performs a comprehensive running analysis and identifies strength and flexibility deficits. In her work with dancers, she not only identifies areas of compensation and weakness but also focuses on technique and addresses the cause of the injury or deficit.

Megan has been teaching physical therapists’ foot/ankle evaluation and treatment techniques for over 23 years. Her goal is to facilitate other physical therapists in becoming more proficient in evaluating and treating lower extremity injuries. The more detailed the assessment and treatment are, the better, so that the cause of a patient’s injury or dysfunction can be fully addressed.

Megan has attended numerous courses about running injuries and running video analysis during her career. She started a runners’ rehab program in 2018 and has had continued success in treating runners of all ages and competition levels.

Megan decided to specialize in treating runners and dancers partly due to her own background in running and dance. Megan started dancing, especially ballet, at a young age and continued taking classes through graduate school. She developed a passion for running after running cross country in high school and has continued running since. She started running 10K races in 2019 and has now run 5 half marathons. She completed her first marathon in 2024!

Megan has found that her knowledge about running and running-related injuries, combined with her personal experience in training and injury management/prevention, has been invaluable in treating these athletes.
